Botulinum toxin is indicated for the treatment:
- lion wrinkles
- vertical inter-superciliary wrinkles (frown)
- frontal wrinkles, deom which we obtain a smooth front.
- peri-ocular wrinkles or “crow’s-foot”
It can also be used but more outstanding in the treatment of wrinkles peri-oral, chin in and “orange peel”, wrinkles of neck when patient refuses laser or surgery.
THE BOTOX or BOTULINUM TOXIN : Check-up
Careful clinical examination must be performed before injecting the product.
THE BOTOX or BOTULINUM TOXIN : Result
The botox can only achieve a temporary correction. The treatment is to be renewed every 4 to 6 months.
The correction may be incomplete if the skin is already damaged and fractures, that should be previously corrected in order to optimize the result.
The time between two treatments should not be less than three months. In the case of a treatment’s failure or an effect decrease further to repeated injections, the methods of the alternative treatment must be used.
THE BOTOX or BOTULINUM TOXIN : Contraindications
The use of botox is not recommended for people under 18 and over 65 years old. Used properly, it is now proved that its use poses no risk in the short or long term.
THE BOTOX or BOTULINUM TOXIN : Undesirable effects
The administration of frequent or too high doses can make up antibodies which may lead to resistance to the treatment. This can limit the effectiveness of any subsequent treatment.
Botox injection must be practiced in a hospital because some reactions to the products have been rated: in general, side effects are observed in the first few days after the injection and are transient. Most commonly reported side effects have no grave seriousness to be moderated. As with any injection, one can observe a pain, an oedema and / or hematoma at the injection site.
