Indications

When the operative indication is well performed, eyelid surgery gives excellent results. It is very rejuvenating and very natural.


Blepharoplasty : Principle of the intervention

Blepharoplasty at upper eyelids’ level

It will be a resection of an excess complete skin or not by resection of greasy pocket situated in the internal angle of the eye. The residual scar will become invisible in few months, hidden inside the furrow of the eyelid and disappearing out of the crow’s-foot.

Blepharoplasty at the lower eyelids’ level

This may include, according to the circumstances, the removal of greasy pockets without skin excess, or the removal of skin and pockets excess’. In this latter case, the scar, at the eyelashes’ level, sometimes extends beyond the crow’s-foot wrinkles. This scar, will also disappear quickly.


Blepharoplasty : operation

It is often done under local anaesthesia in order to retain the natural look. It lasts between 1h:00 and 1h:30 depending on the case. Hospitalization lasts only few hours.


Blepharoplasty : check-up and pre-operative consultation

Blood sample with or without ophthalmological examination, to ensure that there is no misindication in your case.


Blepharoplasty : operative follow-up

The eyelids are more or less marked for a period from one to two weeks and wearing dark glasses is advisable during this period. The sutures are removed between the 4th and 6th day.


Blepharoplasty : results

The improvement is often sustainable. The greasy pocket does not reform, but the skin can stretch again with age. In some patients, scar persists beyond 1 year. The rejuvenating operation is the most spectacular and is usually the first to be carried out.
